Educational
I was first exposed to educational writing while working on an English language learning project at Disney (though I was not involved in developing the curriculum). Shortly thereafter, I began writing scripts for ICanLearn, an in-class education program heavily dependent on video lessons. I wrote several produced scripts teaching Geometry concepts.
Sample: children’s reading exercise.
Two fantastic artists, Esther Pearl Watson and Mark Todd, invited me to contribute to their teen-focused book, Whatcha Mean What’s a Zine?, released by leading educational publisher Houghton-Mifflin. That book was intended to educate and excite teens about self-publishing, and I contributed two pieces intended to encourage kids to explore writing. Both pieces were lauded by their editor at Houghton-Mifflin, who called attention in particular to the voice used.
